Retro boards, when style was so important. Thank fully many of the original companies are still going strong. If it where not for these dedicated skaters we would all be on boards that are mass produced in factories in the fare East who have no care for our industry. Retro Skateboards are much more fun to ride in Parks and Bowls than plan “popsicle” decks. They have real passion and soul and when you get a good Sk8 Jam going the atmosphere can be electric. We stock all the great skate names from the 1970’s, the 1980’s and of course great decks from the early 1990’s. But without any doubt the real creative shapes emerged in the early to mid 1980’s. The term “retro” decks apply to pre 1990. So the names like Alva, Bahne and Tunnel Skateboards fall into this period of skate history. As Skateboarding in the 1970’s exploded in popularity names like, Bennett Trucks and Wheels, Gullwing, NMB, G&S Fibreflex and of course “Dogtown” became house hold names launching the skate careers of Stacy Peralta, Jay Adams, Tony Alva, Waldo, Bill Bahne and many others. To this day they still skate and are going strong. |
